Pietro Candiano II was the 19th doge of the Serenissima (932-939).

Son of Doge Pietro I, he worked to consolidate the dominance of the Republic, first by fighting against Comacchio, which continued to disrupt the Venetians' river trade, then against the Marquis of Istria, Vintero or Wintero.

Comacchio was occupied and set on fire and was forced to recognise the authority of the Republic.

The Istrian marquis had to undertake to pay an annual tribute of 100 amphorae of wine in exchange for a free market.

In the Church of San Zaccaria there is a funeral monument in memory of Doge Pietro Candiano II.
