He was 77 years old (he was born in 1468) and had studied literature.
He distinguished himself as a soldier, ambassador and podestà in various cities and was finally elected procurator of S. Marco de ultra on 7 October 1532.
During his dogado he took an interest, as never before, in the lagoon, also because the Correttori of his Promission had inserted special obligations, in addition to that of not being able to read any public letters by himself, i.e. to confer twice a month with the Savi alle Acque on the conditions and problems of the lagoon.
