He was 65 years old (he was born on 28 February 1566), had been procurator of S. Marco de ultra since 22 December 1618, and was already provveditore generale da mar and provveditore generale in terraferma (or superintendent of land forces).
At the time of his election, he was provveditore generale in terraferma for the fourth time: he arrived from Vicenza the next day.
