Son of Doge Bertuccio, he was 64 years old (he was born on 28 March 1630) and an expert card player: he always carried a deck in his pocket and when he lost he burst out laughing, putting on a good face.

Unlike his father, he was procurator of S. Marco de supra, a title he had bought by paying 20,500 ducats to the treasury.

At just 19 years of age, he had married Elisabetta Querini, who was later elected dogaressa in contravention of the 1646 law prohibiting it.

Silvestro, like his father, died of gout and eight years later his wife joined him, buried with him
