He was 37 years old (he was born in 1306) and was already procurator of St. Mark de supra (21.7.1331).
He was the first doge to graduate.
He was a personal friend of Petrarch and wrote numerous literary works, in addition to his Chronica brevis and Chronica per extensum descripta, in which he narrates the history of Aquileia and his daughter Venice, thus earning himself the title of chronicler.
During his dogate, the Black Death (1348) also struck Venice, taking 75% of the population and causing immense economic damage.
