He was 76 years old (he was born on 11 November 1536) and belonged to one of the old families, believed to be descended from Menesteus, the companion of Aeneas.
The dogado was peaceful except for the annoyances of the uscocchi pirates instigated by Austria.
He was buried in S. Giorgio Maggiore.
