The library, starting from 2000, was located on the 1st floor of the building known as the former Tiro a Volo; the space available was about 380 square meters. divided into 3 rooms with 72 seats for reading.
The heritage is around 24,000 volumes and 15 periodicals; the endowment is constantly being expanded with new acquisitions.
The services offered, provided for by specific binding regulations for both operators and users, are the following:
- reading on site;
- children's section;
- book loan;
- bibliographic consultancy;
- consultation of databases, in particular an IT catalog on the history of the Lido of Venice.
Recently, the building has undergone restructuring activities which led to the opening of the ground floor which has been organized as follows: two thirds are occupied by the library while the rest of the surface can be set up exhibitions and other cultural initiatives, to encourage the reading and participation of citizens. Upstairs, most of the space will be used as a cultural center while the rest is intended for a reading room. Among the future prospects is that of equipping the overdraft so that it can also be used for events.
The library is part of the SBU - urban library system - of the Venetian libraries to which the public reading libraries (the Municipal Library of Mestre and the municipal libraries) and some specialist libraries belong.
