Alvise Mocenigo IV was the 118th doge of the Serenissima (19 April 1763 - 31 December 1778).

He was 62 years old (he was born on 19 May 1701).

In one of his speeches to the Senate he said: However sweet and desirable peace may be, it is nevertheless harmful and fatal to every state, when the love of tranquillity reaches this degree of passion, which makes one lose sight of distant dangers and makes one consider distant dangers near at hand.

He was buried next to his wife in the Church of St John and Paul (Castello). The grave is marked by a tombstone on the floor.
