Damiano Michieletto, a graduate in Modern Literature from Ca' Foscari University in Venice, specialised in directing at the Scuola d'Arte Drammatica 'Paolo Grassi' in Milan.He has staged operas by Rossini and Mozart and worked at the Alla Scala theatre in Milan, the Massimo theatre in Palermo and the Regio theatre in Turin. His debut was in 2003 at the Wexford Opera Festival with Švanda dudák by Weinberger, which won him the Irish Times/ESB Theatre Awards for opera production of the year. Of his early productions, L'Histoire du soldat by Stravinsky, A Midsumm
