The museum is located in the seat of the Scuola dei Merletti di Burano, founded in 1872, inside are exhibited works of Venetian production ranging from the sixteenth to the twentieth century as well as precious works of the Scuola dei Mereltti of Burano.
The Lace School gave the girls a teaching that began at an early age and was divided into various classes and levels, the young women, in addition to learning, could sell the works made.
The archive is full of important historical-artistic documents of photos, drawings and more that are available to scholars.
In the morning there is the chance to see authentic Burano lace makers, who demonstrate the various techniques of lace making.
The lace processing is strictly performed only with needle and thread.
