Tommaso Mocenigo was the 64th Doge of the Serenissima (1413-1423).

He was 71 years old (he was born in 1343) and was affectionately called Tommasone.

He was a bachelor, but with a natural daughter; he had a good military and diplomatic background.

On 24 January 1405 m.v. he was elected procurator of St Mark de supra.

With him began a new custom, the tour of St. Mark's Square in a cockpit, carried on the shoulders of the Arsenalotti, from which he threw to the people handfuls of freshly minted coins bearing his name, while usually the doge threw coins minted with the name of his predecessor.
