He was 74 years old (he was born in 1667).
A great lover of letters and science, a writer and poet himself, despite his culture and unquestionable patronage, he was not loved by the people, especially the decadent nobility, who always considered him to be an unmunificent person. He was a member of the literary Academy of Arcadia under the pseudonym Armiro Elettreo.
During his Dogado, public lighting was introduced and the Academy of Painting and Sculpture was established.
In foreign policy, the Republic continued to remain neutral.
