Marcantonio Trevisan was the 80th doge of the Serenissima (1553-1554).

He was 78 years old (he was born in 1475), honest, a bachelor and a bigot.

To his credit were several diplomatic experiences following his father, then the post of governor of Cyprus, then of Candia and finally the election as procurator of S. Marco de ultra (8 January 1550).

Of his very short dogado we remember his invitation to the Council of X to stop balls, theatrical performances and various parties after midnight.

He died while praying.

He was buried in the Church of S. Francesco della Vigna (Castello).
