He returned to Venice on 10 January 1690, but after the death of the new captain general da mar, Girolamo Corner, the Turks reared their heads again. On 24 May 1693 Morosini was almost forced to retake command of the fleet and was appointed Captain General da mar for the third time: he recaptured some islands, but then fell ill and died in Nafplio on 6 January 1694.
The body was transported to the island of Nafplio on 6 January 1694.
