A minimalist building, overlooking the canal that connects San Marco to Rialto. Modified over the centuries to follow changing aesthetic tastes, it has survived a partial collapse and is still a place of worship.
A simple building that holds masterpieces of Venetian art inside.

The date of construction of the church is still uncertain even if according to the Corner it is to be placed at the end of the 11th century, before 1072; it seems to have been built by the will of the noble Dandolo and Pizzamano families.

Over the centuries it underwent several restorations and in the 16th century it was completely redesigned. The works lasted for several years. In 1827, a portion of the facade collapsed and was restored by a Murano artist: Sebastiano Santi. The last major restoration dates back to 1881 which radically changed the structure and only the terracot
