He was 76 years old (he was born in 1263).
A former duke of Crete, podestà of Ragusa and Koper, he was elected procurator of St. Mark de citra (25 February 1333 m.v.).
His dogado was on the whole peaceful.
From the point of view of rectitude, Gradenigo had a few problems; in fact, on 29 November 1342, the Doge's Promissors passed a decree forbidding the doge and dogaressa to engage in any commercial activities.
He was buried in the atrium of St. Mark's Church.
