He was born on 26 September 1553 and was 77 years old.
He was a man of great culture, had studied philosophy and had been appointed public historiographer, but in the end he only wrote about events from 1597 to 1604.
His was a very short and bitter dogado: it began with a military defeat at Valeggio (25 May 1630), which was followed by an unsatisfactory peace (Regensburg, October 1630), continued with the outbreak of the plague (June 1630) and ended with his death the day after the laying of the foundation stone of the votive temple of the Madonna della Salute tha
