Self-portrait of Tiziano Vecellio (Staatliche Museen zu Berlin — Gemäldegalerie)

Tiziano Vecellio, one of the greatest exponents of 16th century Europe whose strong point was always the continuous search for innovation and excellence, particularly in colour.
He was born in Pieve di Cadore between 1480 and 1485.

Amongst Cadore's earliest achievements are the frescoes on the ground facade of the Fondaco dei Tedeschi in 1508-1509. At the same time, Giorgione was working on the façade on the Grand Canal. The programme of the entire decoration, which was destroyed in a short time, is unfortunately not reconstructible. 

Also dating from around the same years is the Country Concert in the Louvre, long attributed by critics to Giorgione, an allegory of musical harmony as a reflection of the social and cultural contrast theorised by Pietro Bembo. This painting is part of a series of works
