Rebuilt in 1521 following the fire of 1514, the building housed the offices of the Ten Wise Men at the Tithes, one of the groups of finance magistrates. The project was curated by Antonio Abbondi, known as Scarpagnino, who took part in the front line in the reconstruction of the area after the fire.
The building has a very simple and linear architecture with two sober floors and rectangular windows.
The short side of the building, the one that runs along the Grand Canal, is made up of four arches while the long side of thirty-seven.
