Located along the Fondamenta de la Misericordia, in the Cannaregio district, it is connected to the ancient School and to the Church of Santa Maria Valverde or Santa Maria della Misericordia by the bridge of the same name.
The decision to build a new school, which could accommodate the members of the Confraternity of Mercy, was necessary at the end of the fifteenth century, when the members reached almost 1800, of which 700 were rich, and the old factory was no longer sufficient to contain them all.
