Reaching the highest point of the Ponte dell'Accademia bridge, two palaces immediately leap to the eye at the foot of the bridge itself: on one side are the Gallerie dell'Accademia, on the opposite side an equally majestic palace stands out against the canal. This is Palazzo Franchetti, now home to the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere e Arti.
It represents one of the greatest examples of Gothic architecture from the second half of the 15th century in the lagoon city.

The construction of this building took place in the second half of the 15th century and its façade, dating back to the same period, has been extensively and in several moments renovated according to the wishes of the numerous owners who have followed one another over the course of history.
