The theater, located in a small building nestled between the walls, was inaugurated on 10 April 1970, a Friday, and was the first place in Mestre intended for theater only.

The proposed representations and numerous great actors who brought their productions to this stage are original: Benigni, Paolini, the Kabuki Theater, Lella Costa, Sabina Guzzanti are some of the artists who performed at the Murata theater.

A stage for newcomers who experiment their productions here, the Teatro della Murata was home to the Officina del Teatro, a teaching experience for adults and children.
