Two families contributed to the construction of this church: at its origins, the Jubanico family and then the important Barbaro family, who gave us the present façade.
Take a moment to absorb it: there you will find statues of family members and stone plans of some Italian cities and beyond, as praise for important achievements.

The church of S. Maria del Giglio (or Zobenico, or Zobenigo) was built in the 10th century on a commission from the Jubanico family.

Of particular importance is its façade, the work of the architect Giuseppe Sardi from Morcote, where we find statues of the Barbaro brothers, Gianmaria statesman, Marino senator, Francesco admiral and Carlo statesman, as well as a statue of Antonio Barbaro.

There are also bas-reliefs of city plans including Zadar in Dalmatia, Padua, Rome, Corfu,  Split and Candia on the island of Crete.
