The origins of the church are very ancient: it was built in 699 by the will of the Candiana family called Sanudo and titled to Saints Maurizio, Lazzaro and Adriano.
In 1105 the building underwent an extensive fire that completely destroyed it; it was therefore rebuilt and lasted until 1590, when it was rebuilt and consecrated. New restoration works were made to the building in 1795 on the decision of the noble Pietro Zaguri and carried out on a project by the architects Antonio Diedo and Giovanni Antonio Selva, some low reliefs were made by Bartolomeo Ferrari and others by Luigi
