Palazzo Pesaro, built between 1652 and 1710 by Longhena and Gaspari, was donated to the city in 1889 by Duchess Felicita Bevilacqua La Masa. Today it houses the National Museum of Oriental Art and the Gallery of Modern Art.

The construction, desired by Giovanni Pesaro, one of the members of the noble family of the same name, was entrusted to Baldassarre Longhena.The work began in 1652 and was completed in 1710 under the direction of Antonio Gaspari (Longhena died in 1682).The original design included a staircase interrupting the entrance hall, an internal courtyard including a loggia and the service area.Gaspari later modified the design by eliminating both the grand staircase and the courtyard and, above all, changed the palace's side view towards the Rio delle Due Torri.The ceiling of the piano nobile was once
