One thing is certain: those who are enjoying the Grand Canal by vaporetto will not fail to be bewitched and enraptured by the astonishing Gothic beauty of this palace. And to think that in the past, some parts of its façade were even covered in gold.
It seems almost impossible that such an asymmetrical building could be pleasing to the eye, yet this unruliness is precisely its strength. Don't dwell only on the lower part, the building is crowned by a splendid crenellated band reminiscent of the Doge's Palace.

This majestic palace overlooking the Grand Canal was built at the behest of the merchant Marino Contarini between 1421 and 1443. Numerous artists took part in its realisation, such as Matteo Raverti, a master stonemason who created the courtyard staircase and the fretwork of the first floor loggia, Giovanni and Bartolomeo Bon, architects and sculptors who completed the façade and created the fretwork of the portico and the red marble wellhead, Niccolò Romanello, sculptor who carved the flower of the main entrance and the capitals of the columns of the upper loggia and first floor, and finally
