Among his works, the most significant are: the frescoes of the archiepiscopal palace of Udine (1726-30), the canvases for the Scuola del Carmine in Venice which represent one of his pearls (1743) and the frescoes for the residence of Carlo Filippo by Greiffenklau in Würzburg (1751-53).

He married Cecilia Guardi, Francesco Guardi's sister, and had 9 children by her.

Pupil of Gregorio Lazzarini and interested in the expressive - dramatic style adopted by artists such as G. B. Piazzetta and F. Bencovich; in the field of decoration and fresco, however, the strong attraction towards the art of Stefano Ricci and the great Paolo Veronese is evident.

After the decoration in the church of the Scalzi in Venice (1724-25; for some critics 1728-29) at a time in the chapel dedicated to St. Teresa, with the frescoes of the archbishop's palace of Udine there was a real turning point in the art of Tiepolo (the decoration "Stories of the Old Testament" is characterized by the use of clear and transparent colors, impregnated with light, and by monumental open spatial compositions).
