Palazzo Gritti Dandolo, for many only Palazzo Gritti, belonged to two Venetian families, the Gritti and the Dandolo, as evidenced by the logos of the respective dynasties affixed to the facade facing the Grand Canal.

The Gritti family is part of the group of nobles of the new lineage, it is not known whether it descends from the first immigrants in the lagoon or comes from Candia (Crete); others, on the other hand, trace their origins back to the city of Bergamo, even if the presence of different branches of the same surname cannot be excluded without for this having points of gen
