Giorgio Franchetti Gallery at the Ca 'd'Oro — (Archive Venipedia/Bazzmann)

We owe the creation of this museum to its owner Baron Giorgio Franchetti, who with dedication and passion restored the building and collected a considerable number of works.
In the exhibition halls, one can browse through valuable sculptures, bronzes and furniture as well as Tuscan and Flemish school paintings. Not only that, but also precious frescoes from the Fontego dei Tedeschi are preserved.

On the ground floor of the building, near the ticket office, it is possible to visit a courtyard that contains a true well masterpiece of 1427 by the sculptor Bartolomeo Bon and in the atrium an elegant mosaic that incorporates the mosaics of the Basilica of San Marco.

There is a marble representing an angel holding the coat of arms of the Contarini family, previous owners of the house.
