From 1994 to 2014 it was the historical seat of the Bibilioteca Civica di Mestre , the result of a renovation of a former glassworks. It welcomed more than 500 people a day and its lending activity was around 60,000 documents each year including books, music and films. Today the new location is in Villa Erizzo.

It can be considered the first real seat of the Municipal Library of Mestre whose building was previously occupied by a glass factory; in 1994 it was purchased by the Municipality of Venice which used it as a library.

It became the place of the main culture of Mestre with the total area of 1900 square meters, n. 220 reading places and some workstations equipped with computers to consult the catalog and access the internet.

Its patrimony, consisting of about 50,000 volumes, included an entire section dedicated to Venice and the Veneto.
