Slightly set back from the noisy and crowded Strada Nova, the church dedicated to San Marziale or San Marcilliano bishop of Limoges, looks like an austere and bare religious building with external walls devoid of any decoration.
It was first erected in the 9th century and then completely rebuilt in the first half of the 12th century by the Bocchi family. This building consisted of a basilica plan with three naves, large side windows and a tripartite facade.
