Titled to St. John the Apostle and Evangelist, protector of men of culture, writers, editors and theologians, whose emblem is the eagle on the entrance portal of the nearby Scuola Grande of the same name.
We recommend visiting both of these monuments, so closely linked by centuries of history.

The first document that mentions the church of San Giovanni Evangelista dates back to 1187, but tradition sets the date of foundation in 970 by the Badoer family. The church is located near the Basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari and next to the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista.

Over the centuries, the building has undergone several renovations, the last substantial ones occurred in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
