Here people suffering from diseases incurable for the time, such as syphilis, were housed and cared for. It was also a place where women from various social classes could learn music and singing, creating choristers and instrumentalists known throughout Venice for their skill.

The former Ospedale degli Incurabili is a large building of sixteenth-century origin on two floors with a white facade and base covered with Istrian stone, located at the Fondamenta delle Zattere dello Spirito Santo, between the Ponte degli Incurabili and the Church of the Holy Spirit. The main entrance is characterized by a monumental portal that allows access to a cloister of considerable size with a colonnade on all sides, inside which there are four wells, one in each corner.
