Of his first performance he writes '...if Mina had sung my song, Come sinfonia, I probably would never have gone on stage, I would have stayed backstage writing music for other performers, but as fate would have it, Mina had already agreed with others and so into the spotlight I had to go...'.

Pino Donaggio was born in Venice, precisely on the island of Burano, on 24 November 1941 and already at an early age he showed a passion and talent for music. He began playing the violin at the age of 10, studying first at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory in Venice and then at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan. During his stay in Lombardy, he met the conductor Claudio Abbado and began performing first on radio as a soloist in a Vivaldi Concerto, then with the Solisti Veneti and the Solisti di Milano, and finally, during a holiday, he put himself to the test by singing a Paul Anka pie
