The Galleria di Palazzo Cini was established in 1984, three years after Princess Yana Cini Alliata di Montereale, daughter of Vittorio Cini, donated part of her father's assets to the Giorgio Cini Foundation; Yana paid homage to a notable nucleus of Tuscan paintings, some precious sculptures and other objects of decorative art.

Five years later, in 1989, the foundation expanded its endowment of works belonging to Vittorio Cini thanks to the kind concession of a group of Ferrara paintings by Vittorio Cini's other daughter, Yilda Cini Guglielmi di Vulci.

The entire patrimony of pictorial art is enriched by precious objects of furniture: furniture, mirrors, porcelain including a wonderful complete service of the eighteenth-century Venetian manufacture of the Cozzi, small ivory plaques and caskets made by the Bottega degli Embriachi, Renaissance enamels, goldsmiths, terracotta sculptures, sideboards, chests of considerable importance and finally a Neapolitan sedan chair of the eighteenth century. The exhibition itinerary allows an easy and pleasant itinerary through the perfectly illuminated and preserved Tuscan and Ferrarese pictorial masterpieces, from the 13th to the 16th century, with the addition of paintings belonging to other schools such as the Guariento, the Master of the Silver Crucifix and the Master of the Cini Diptych.

As for the collection of Tuscan paintings, we recall: the triptych by Francesco dell'Orcagna from the church of Santa Caterina in Pisa, the Madonna and Child, saints and musician angels by Filippo Lippi, the Saint Thomas Aquinas by Beato Angelico, the Madonna and Child with two angels by Piero di Cosimo, the Madonna and Child by Piero della Francesca, The Judgment of Paris by Botticelli and workshop and Jacopo Pontormo's Double Portrait of Friends. Also exhibited are works by: Taddeo Gaddi, Bernardo Daddi, Lorenzo di Niccolò, Lorenzo Monaco, Stefano di Giovanni called Sassetta, Francesco Neri da Volterra, Pietro di Giovanni Ambrosi, Lorenzo di Pietro called Vecchietta, Domenico Ghirlandaio.

The collection of Ferrara paintings includes: San Giorgio by Cosmè Tura, Santa Caterina d’Alessandria, San Girolamo and San Giorgio by Ercole de 'Roberti and Allegorical scene by Dosso Dossi. There are also works by: Marco Zoppo, Baldassarre d’Este, Ludovico Mazzolino, Lorenzo Costa and the Ortolano.
