The Church and Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Venice, built in the 15th century in Dorsoduro, house valuable Venetian works of art by Giovanni Battista Buonconsiglio, Francesco Migliorini, Jacopo Guarana and Palma il Giovane. The founder, Sister Maria Caroldo, a controversial figure in Venetian history, was accused of immoral behaviour and dishonest management of the convent's assets, leading to her deposition and transfer to a stricter monastery. Today, the Venetian church is only accessible for special ceremonies, while the former convent houses a branch of the Marco Polo Art School, creating a bridge between historical sacred art and contemporary artistic education.
