Located in the San Trovaso district, it owes its name to the Augustinian nuns, also known as Romite, who lived in the adjoining convent for more than a century.

It is said that the history of the monastery began in 1688 thanks to a bequest to the Church of Santo Donadoni (in the church there is a plaque showing the debt of gratitude for the donation), which allowed the Hermit nuns of the Rule of St. Augustine to move there on August 5, 1694; these previously lived, as early as 1486, in the tiny headquarters in San Marcuola (Ermagora and Fortunato). The church was built around 1693 with devotion to Jesus, Joseph and Mary.
