Nel 1496 Aldo stampò il De Aetnadel Bembo, un libro molto significativo per la storia della tipografia. A partire dagli anni Trenta del Cinquecento fino alla fine del secolo e oltre, tutti gli incisori, compreso il celebre Garamond, furono attratti dal carattere usato da Manuzio e copiarono quelle lettere.
