Francesco Stiore was born on 17 October 1806 in Venice to Antonio and Lucia Budua. His was a large patriarchal family that resided in a small two-storey house in Fondamenta Sant'Anna at number 609 in the Castello district. Documents preserved in the Venice Municipal Historical Archives allow us to follow the family's fortunes for much of the 19th century.
