This building is one of the most prestigious palaces in the lagoon, partly for its enormous size (seven floors), partly for the characteristic of having, next to the main body, a lower part probably reserved for leisure and entertainment (called casino, at the time).
It was already built in the sixteenth century but the current characteristics are of more recent construction (XVII - XVIII). The first interventions were commissioned by Alvise Mocenigo, the great doge who won the battle of Lepanto in 1571, who bought some pre-existing houses, had them demolished and built the palace
